  14. I have a Zoom 14.4k modem.  I have heard that a 14.4 modem should be able 
  15. to download at a maximum rate of 1.8k per second.  I am lucky to get 1.2k 
  16. out of it.  Most of the time, it averages about 0.5k per second.  Why is 
  17. this modem so slow?
  18. Also, I am planning to get a new modem, either a 28.8 or a 33.6.  What 
  19. are some reliable modems with a good (and consistent) data transfer rate?
